I've surfaced from my time warp of the last few weeks with some new sets! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind working between LA Art Show and some new projects with Angelina Christina. I'm still organizing my LA Art Show photos because it's fairly tedious and I love to play but I swear this is the week I finish! In the meantime I have four new sets for grubby eyes to peep on
After getting back to LA and shooting LA Art Show it was two weeks in to the year before I shot my first LA Muse and all glory be to she, it happened to be the first shoot with Satine Phoenix in fuck knows how long (and really only our second shoot ever). Satine is super busy these days but squeezed me in for a quick shoot at the nearby Pet Cemetery. I first heard about this LA treasure from local scholar Paul Komoda during a lecture he was giving on Los Angeles' famous felines. I was stoked to take Satine here as she and Paul are friends so it felt extra serendipitous. I really wasn't sure how great a location this would be but we not only was it one of the best cemeteries I've ever been to, the light also happened to be perfect during the time we were there and we got in a lot of great shots. It was wonderful catching up Satine and you should make sure to follow her and her gaming exploits on social media if you don't already.
It didn't take me long for another shoot turnaround as the next day I brought my friend Miss Chaos to a spot that students of my shaolin photo ways have come to know dearly as Angels Gate Bunkers. As Urbex/Graff enthusiasts, Miss Chaos and I had both visited this location on our own, so it was a lot of fun to explore it together while shooting. When we got there I was afraid the tunnels had been locked up and we wouldn't get to shoot in there, but a kind stranger/fellow trespasser opened the way. I'm really glad he did because this led to some of my favorite shots from my psychedelic rainbow series. Miss Chaos also brought an extra special latex mask from January Seraph who sadly pass from our realm last year after taking her own life. She will be forever missed and I'm really thankful we could pay tribute to her in some way.
Making it three days in a row of shoots I follow up with my first Laura Wrong shoot since our lost shoot with The Spritely One out in The Salton Sea. For those that don't know the story: Laura, Sprite, and I went out to The Salton Sea for one of the longest shoot days I've had in some time. We hit up all the usual spots including East Jesus, The Tank, some abandoned buildings in the Slabs. We took so many amazing shots only to discover upon getting home that my CF card had somehow become corrupted and the photos would be lost to the antiquities. That means this was my first shoot with Laura to see the light of day since she shaved her head. Laura and I trekked over to a woodland spot I don't visit nearly often enough: Millard Falls. Upon arriving at Millard I noticed a trail from the parking lot I had never explored. We had quite the exciting trip and got some killer photos. Eventually we decided to venture back to my home of Highland Park and shot some more photos including a beautifully grotesque shot of Laura with a dead crow. I later noticed in editing that someone had inexplicably placed a weed bowl in the chest of the dead bird. So very odd.
In the following weeks I would get pretty busy catching up on some projects and shooting some new ones with Angelina (which of course I will reveal when they are all done). So we skip forward to last Monday when I had my very first shoot with Lilly Moon. Lilly and I have been aware of each other from several years ago from our street art days but finally connected just recently on social media. I took Lilly to my dojo of Switzer Falls (I basically consider this spot my studio at this point). She was super sweet, fun to photograph, and a great climber. We had a really wonderful shoot and we will definitely we shooting together again. In addition to being a great model, Lilly is a dancer at my favorite strip club (really the only one I like) Jumbo's Clown Room and a wonderful painter so go check out homegirl's work
Stay tuned later this week as I'll be showing off some new pages here on the site, as well as another Angelina Christina video and probably some new sets. Enjoy!
