New Year, new sets, new site (sort of). Welcome to the first post of 2018. Take glance around the site and you'll notice some new changes including the introduction of Muse pages, client sets, events, artist pages, and all sort of photos I've been shooting over the last year that are new to you so go check out the Photography page and see what's happening. On to some new sets!
I've been shooting a little sporadically lately due to the holidays so I waited a few weeks to post so I would have 4 brand new sets starting with Alyssa Earthcandy. Alyssa and I recently had our first shoot together BUT I haven't known Alyssa as part of the Arqade Family for a little while now. We finally got around to shooting together and made the trek to one of my regular spots, Angel's Gate Bunkers in San Pedro. Alyssa is a fire spinner so we incorporated a bunch of that in to the set.
On Christmas I celebrated the holidays by linking up for the fourth set with my friend Sofia Weinberg and exploring a new location: The Topanga Fire Lookout. Deep in the woods of Topanga Canyon there's a trail that leads to a beautiful graffitied concrete lookout point with a beautiful view of the forest as far as the eye can see. We didn't get to spend as much time at the lookout itself as I would have liked due to increased visitors from the holiday but we still killed it and had a great shoot which we followed up with Korean BBQ (not pictured
I finished out 2017 by making the venture out to Ventura, headquarters to one of my favorite new muses from this year The Spritely One! Sprite's been trying to get me out to Ventura for a while so I figured what better way to end the year than to have a new adventure. I used to date a girl years out there but never really spent any time shooting out in Ventura. Sprite and I had a pretty full day first exploring several burnt out areas from the recent Thomas Fires, followed by an adventure to a killer abandoned school, and finally finishing out with some rather cute photos we took in Sprite's apartment (which we followed up by playing my first game of Cthulhu Fixx (also not photographed)). Now is probably as great a time as any to announce Sprite and I will be doing a photography tour of The Bay Area next month. Stayed tuned to our social media for details and live roadtrip updates.
Bringing out the old and ringing in the new I started 2018 by traversing down to South Florida for a week to visit my family on the occasion of my Mom's retirement. I have a bunch of photos of my family to potentially share but haven't edited everything or decided what to do with more personal photography yet, however I did make my way to meet up with the wonderful Angie Mitchell for our first shoot together. Angie and I have been following each other on social media since last year and made sure to shooting together during my trip. I thought a shoot down in Miami would be a great time to return to Wynwood. Those that follow my work might remember Wynwood as a major location for my work with Angelina Christina from our trip to Art Basel back in late 2015. In fact Angie (who coincidently also turns out to be an Angelina) started our shoot in The Old RC Cola Factory where Angelina and Fanakapan collaborated on a killer mural. The Old RC Cola Factory is one of my absolute favorite abandoned places so it was great to shoot with Angie there. After RC Cola we wandered around the rest of Wynwood shooting with the various street art around Miami's Arts District and one of the most defensely painted spots on the planet. During the course of the shoot I stood in a giant pool of water to get a shot and suffered a battle wound when hopping a chainlink fence (leading to a tetanus shot the next day). Angie was an amazing model to shoot with and we will definitely be shooting together during future Florida trips. I'm back in LA now, it's raining, and this week I'm shooting for The LA Art Show so again keep your eyes on my social media for updates.
