Happy Saturday! Change is in the air. This week I found out that my friend's gallery is shutting down due to the building getting condemned, more than likely to make way for expensive condos. Luckily they've already found a new location, more details on that to follow. Another change perhaps is today's muse Minni Jo who has started focusing on her new band Orbis Lazuli. I've known Minni for over two years now and she's so talented. She sings, plays instruments including the guitar and flute, acts, and of course models. I've always loved shooting her and never been anything but delighted at the photos we've taken.
In the time we've been shooting together we've become very close so some days we just head out to shoot together with no real plan. That is pretty much what happened with today's shoot. Minni suggested we head to Laurel Canyon to go explore a bit. I always have a bit of trouble photographing in Laurel Canyon for some reason but on this day we headed to the general store/cafe and found some gems including some street art by Gregory Siff. Minni and I have shared a mutual love of street art since we met. In fact if you go all the way back to our first shoot you'll see we met up to shoot at The Container Yard (too hard to explain if your'e not familiar with The Yard so give it a google) where we are both friends with The Container Yard's Creative Director Vyal One.
After Laurel Canyon we headed downtown where we in fact shot with one of Vyal's murals that had gone up just recently around the time. Lastly I took Minni to one of my favorite graff spots in Chinatown. I wasn't intending for this set to be so street art focused but that's often what happens when there's no game plan involved. Enjoy!
