It's a beautiful Friday here in Los Angeles and also happens to be the birthday of Kung Fu Babe Lisa Caraway. Earlier this year Angelina Christina showed me photos on her Instagram of a rad girl named Lisa Caraway "Kundaliniyogini" doing killer Yoga poses in front of her various murals around LA. I decided to message Lisa and see if we could get together for a photo shoot, especially with Angelina around so we could both meet her. Lisa's response was super positive with all sorts of ideas. I mentioned we'd be heading out to the desert soon. Coordinating a desert trip with someone can be tricky but the stars aligned and Lisa just happened to be heading out to the artist colony East Jesus on the far side of The Salton Sea as we were and she was bringing her friends in the performance troupe "Body Strokes".
After having our first official in person meeting Lisa and I started shooting around East Jesus right away to take advantage of the golden hour that had just hit. We took some wonderful photos including with the gorgeous Jade White of Body Strokes. With the sun setting soon the gang wanted to check out Salvation Mountain. Angelina and I stayed behind to formulate our own game plans for art making. Eventually we all found ourselves back at East Jesus where Lisa, Jade and I started to explore the night and take some beautiful night shots of the two friends.
After our night shoot I deviated from the group and began doing some long exposure night shots of some of Angelina's pieces. Eventually Lisa and Body Strokes group would help me, but that's a different set for a different day. In the morning Lisa and I did a little mini-shoot with some morning yoga on top of Walter The Bus. We got some group shots and Lisa and the gang took off. Jade White moved off to Vietnam but I assure you these won't be the last photos we take together as we've become good friends. Lisa and I have shot together several times since then so stay tuned for that, but today wish Lisa a happy birthday on social media and enjoy the Gypsy Life.
