It's funny when you blink and almost an entire month goes by. When last we spoke I was just getting started on a new project with Angelina Christina in Mar Vista and I can say that the mural was a major success. We spent nine days on the project with a briefly interlude to paint one side of a mobile home and tonight we finish by painting the other side. It feels really good to finish two new murals within a month after the last project wound up taking us so long. That's really been the main focus in my life lately as photo shoots have been on the down low. I do have a new shoot with Kira Lawrence scheduled for tomorrow so that should be cool.
Today though we return to one of my favorite models and best friends: Annie Motel. Today is Annie's birthday and I had to celebrate by putting out one of my absolutely favorite new sets I shot with her entitled "Moon Palace". One night I decided to take Annie to one of my favorite spots in LA: Vasquez Rocks. For those just tuning in, Vasquez Rocks is a rad little area of epic rock formations famously used in a number of movies and television shows including the famous fight scene between Kirk and Spock on the original Star Trek. This was my third time shooting there. The first time was a daytime shoot with the amazing Corey Zicari. The second time would be the start of a new series which is connected to this set. For my second visit I came here with Minni Jo to do long exposure under the Super Moon. I was so in love with those pictures that I decided I wanted to start a new on going series bringing some of my favorite models to shoot here at night and Annie would become the second. We went on a moonless night so the exposures were a little more challenging the results were equally satisfying.
Since Annie and I met she has become one of the most important people in my life and I'm so happy to know her. She is one of the most talented, supportive, kind, sweet, beautiful, and inspiring people I know. When I'm feeling down I hit up Annie and she always cheers me up. I feel so lucky to make the art I do with her and today I wish her the happiest of birthdays in one of the best ways I know how. If you get a chance, go on social media and wish Annie Motel a Happy Birthday!
