Appearances can be deceiving and the important thing about perception is that instead of imagining what did happen we pay attention to what does happen. I recently got back from several back and forth trips from LA to Slab City in The Salton Sea to gather additional footage of Angelina Christina's work out there with our new drone courtesy of 3DR Robotics. During this trip several strange things happened. I personally took several signs including a beat man to assume what happened was somehow his own weakness with others when it turned out it was really affairs of the heart and typical desert drama. It's easy to create narratives, especially as image makers and storytellers. Now we are back and one more trip might be in order but for now I'll switch my focus to our set for the day.
I was recently hired by the nice people over The LA Art Show to photograph several days of their event. They provided me with passes for the entire show and I made sure to take the full opportunity to create some new sets including the return of Angelina Prendergast for the opening night of the show. Angelina and I attended opening night together last year and shot a few fun pics but I think on this night we outdid ourselves. Angelina's understanding of the body and movement couple with her ability to identify and mood and perfectly encapsulate it in to a look is perhaps the biggest inspiration behind the sets I do. We had a great time at the premier and though this year we did not steal any cacti, I think you will enjoy our results. We also shot a short video which I've both included in the gallery and embedded down below.
