The weather in LA has continued to be unusual with rain abound. I'm not sure if I remember it raining this much in past years but doing so much location shooting in the last few has made me much more aware of the weather. For years I worked at my grad school Art Center College of Design inside a room with no windows to the outside so I might have known if it was raining that day when I came in to work but it never greatly affected me. After that I worked at The Stockroom inside an office where varying weather conditions affected the light inside our nicely naturally lit office but again with minimal affect to me. Now for money I drive for Lyft and of course I do my shoots so every shift in the weather is highly noticeable. In fact, I had a shoot this week that almost got rained out but luckily we drove in to an area of town that wasn't getting affected by the weather. I don't mind the gloom of an overcast day like this other than the headache from my sinuses but I do miss the shining sun just a bit.
Fortunately today's set offers a bit of sunshine both from the weather during the shoot and the warm energy of the returning Minni Jo! Minni Jo will always be one of my all-time favorite models as working with her when I started doing these sets gave me the confidence to know I was heading in the right direction. Both of our lives got a little busy and we didn't get the chance to shoot together too much this year but we finally made some new plans and headed to The Los Angeles Arboretum. The Arboretum is a gorgeous garden just east of LA in Altadena. It was a gorgeous and inspiring day to go. MJ and I had great conversation as usual about a variety of topics. We got some of our favorite photos towards the end of the shoot when we found a killer field covered in golden light and Minni did what she does best and just moved while I photographed. It was so good to come back together for a new shoot after awhile and just make magic together so I'm really excited to present this set, and just as I do the sun creeps out from behind the clouds for what will hopefully be a sunny afternoon here in LA.
