I've long been involved in the fetish world. I started in the Goth/Industrial scene from around age 17 when I started to hang out with some guys that all had a big friend group and some of those people would go to a local all-ages Goth Night. In college I became a DJ in that scene where I had a radio show. Eventually I moved to clubs including a few festivals and my own (unpopular) night in Ithaca, NY. During my time in Ithaca I discovered a small fetish community. I then moved down to South Florida briefly where I wound up getting a job at The Fetish Factory. I had no retail experience but my Goth/Industrial scene experience helped greatly. I worked there for about a year and fully immersed myself in that scene through their events and new friends I made. After a year I left for Grad School which is when I first came out here to LA 9 years ago. I didn't have much fetish affiliation for a while but had gone back to DJing in the Goth/Industrial scene which was stronger in LA. I did a few gigs including a six month stint at LA's famous Bar Sinister. After I graduated Art Center College of Design I left my DJing behind me but eventually took a side job in a local boutique called The Stockroom. I remembered The Stockroom and their brand Syren Latex from my Fetish Factory days. I was working in their LA boutique but the company was largely known for their online retail given that they are one of the oldest e-commerce companies period. Eventually I would leave my main gig and be bumped to upstairs at The Stockroom in their main office starting their video production department. It was an experience for sure where I met a ton of really interesting people. During my time in that job I wound up doing a few red carpets including the Transgender Erotica Awards, which was still being called the Tranny Porn Awards when I got to meet an amazing dominatrix named Cybill Troy. Cybill and I didn't really get a chance to talk as I was the cameraman, I was producing Hudsy Hawn as the interviewer, and Cybill was on the red carpet as an attendee but everything about her was amazing. I left The Stockroom a year and a half ago so that was probably close to two years ago that I first saw Cybill. Last night I got the chance to have a really rad shoot with her.
That's my background in the fetish world. I'm sure I could expand all that out to chapter upon chapter of stories but that's the Reader's Digest version. I never intended to make the fetish world part of my work but it's funny how these things happen. The biggest eye-opener I've had about the fetish world is how many amazing artists there are. One of those is today's subject, one of my favorite ladies, Lady Krondor makes her return to Kungfubreakfast.com! After our first shoot together at Cobb Estate we were both jiving together so much that Lady Krondor invited me over to her apartment in Valencia the very next day. I rarely shoot people in their places but I love it when I can. Lady K had all these fun props and lights and we put on A Clockwork Orange in the background. It was really magical. And then she took a shower, which I photographed and the magical train continued. This was one of my favorite shoots and yet it was so fun and simple. I hope you enjoy!
