I never understood why Garfield hates Mondays. He doesn't have a job. He rules his house. He eats lasagna all the fucking time. Monday is one of my creative days so sometimes I work from home other times I'm out shooting. I love Mondays. I think in the past year or two since I went freelance I have a greater appreciation for weekdays because its when you can go to all the cool spots and basically no one is around. Such has been the case when I've gone to one of my favorite shooting locations, a little spot down in San Pedro called Sunken City. I first came to Sunken City to shoot with the ultra-cool Stephanie Weitekamp. I didn't really know how to get past the fencing all around the location so we found a spot to hop the fence. I helped Stephanie over but when it came to jump over myself I realized the spikes in the fence and the sharp drop down the cliff on the landing spot freaked me the fuck out. Luckily a passerby helped me over but I wound up having a panic attack. It was no good but an experience nonetheless. Eventually Stephanie and I found on the way out that there was a much easier way to go.
Fast forward to today's set with my friend Chanel Temple. Chanel is a friend of my good friend/frequent subject Angelina Christina. Angelina thought we should shoot together and so we made plans. Chanel and I had an awesome time. We headed down to the South Bay and hit some of my favorite spots including the bluffs in Palos Verdes and the aforementioned Sunken City. I had a lot on my mind that day so the mood of the shoot may have shifted to something a little more dramatic but I think that wound up working very well for our shoot. Chanel was awesome to talk to. My shoots are normally very casual and open but this was perhaps even more so. We had a great time and I'm excited to present to you Chanel Temple.
