Since we last we spoke things have gotten weird in this country. A lot of people in Los Angeles and all over the United States are angry, scared, hopeless, and a myriad of other feelings. For me I'm not sure how I feel, still dealing with a bit of processing but I do feel like Dorothy after the tornado and she just lands in Oz. Oz is this weird place with this all-powerful (white) dude in charge that just sort of showed up and if you want shit you gotta go ask him for it. You also have to kill for this guy so I hope you're up for that. Oh and spoiler alert, he doesn't really give you shit anyway (or at least not the shit you wanted).
Somehow it's only fitting the I introduce the third and final set from the last time my kiwi friend Em Wafer visited the colonies entitled Emerald City. When I shoot a few sets with someone I like to spread them out, and in Em's case she doesn't live anywhere close to me so I was happy to have a little reminder in my life until she came back to our LA hearts, and that day just happens to be today! Em is back in town sometime today just in time to have some of her beautiful art at The Gabba Gallery for their annual "Wish-List" Show, a show designed around affordable art for the holidays. We have plans to shoot together sometime while she's here and while I have no earthly idea where we are going to shoot, I'm sure it will be amazing.
During our first shoot together we ventured to Rock-a-Hoola Waterpark (where I've been three more times since). Since we were halfway to Vegas we figured "Why not go all the way?" where we shot our second set. Em and I had a glorious day together but got to hang out twice more when I took her to one of my favorite rooftops in Downtown LA and for a night out checking out some art shows (including the sad but beautiful memorial show for T.S. Claire aka TFail). We even ran in to Kung Fu Babe Annie Motel. We got some rad shots and I decided a last little set was in order before Em had to click her heals together and say, "There's no place like New Zealand".
