Sophia Sirena - The Devil's Gate and Other Tales of Intrigue

Welcome to Halloween Week at kungfubreakfast.com!  Last year we had a bunch of spooky sets which then kind of just leaked in to some spooky sets whenever I felt like it so maybe it's always at least a little Halloween around here but much like last year I have a special collaborative treat that should be out in the next day or two.  Today though I thought it would be good for a mild Halloween-ish kind of set with the beautiful Sophia Sirena.  Sophia is a killer burlesque performer I met through Instagram a while ago.  It took us a few months to get together to shoot but once we did it was really magic.

For my first shoot with Sophia I decided there was some exploring to do in my hood so I took her first to The Southwest Museum in Highland Park.  I first discovered this killer location a few years back while I was promoting an art show at a couple's house.  They had dedicated their home to being a pop-up gallery called Museum & Crane on the outskirts of Highland Park nestled in the hills.  At the opening of their street is The Southwest Museum, a Native American museum.  The museum itself is cool but what's really spectacular is the tunnel from the street that leads to an elevator bringing you up to the museum through Mt. Washington.  We didn't get to shoot in the hallway long before getting kicked out but the shots we got were perfect and well worth the trip.  We then headed to The Devil's Gate in Pasadena.  The area didn't feel as creepy as I thought it might but it was rad none-the-less with killer concrete structures.  Shooting with Sophia was such a delight and she is a total peach.  Some models just know how to turn it on and some you vibe with right away, we had both.

For part of the shoot I asked her to wear my Cactus Jack t-shirt and pose with my ECW Heavyweight Championship belt.  There was no real specific reason for this other than I've been a big wrestling fan since I was a kid, I wanted to incorporate these in to a shoot, and I thought Sophia would be the perfect fit.  Though as I think about it The Devil's Gate is a submission move by Mankind aka Cactus Jack's rival The Undertaker so maybe it was meant to be.  Sophia later told me a friend of hers is a big wrestling fan and geeked out over the photo.  SHE'S HARDCORE!  SHE'S HARDCORE!  Since it's just about Halloween and she dressed up for me I thought now might be a good time to put out this set.  Enjoy and stay tuned to the site for more Halloween updates this week!
