Last Monday I headed out to Palm Springs to shoot with the amazing Romi Marie. This was my first time meeting Romi but it felt like we were old friends. This was especially helpful because sometimes I think it seems like I don't know what I'm doing. There's a fair point to be made there because I try not to know what I'm doing and that's where the magic is made.
I think there are lots of great different ways to shoot and certainly when I see something where someone controlled every aspect I can see what they were going for. For me personally I like to find that place in between. It doesn't always work out in my favor (including a shoot that went sideways the next day) but most of the time the forced improv is fire.
A big part of that reason I like to improv is because I see photo shoots as a collaborative effort and Romi knocked it out of the park. Her outfits were on point, the locations she and her rad boyfriend Charles suggested were inspiring, and all around it was great to just kick it with them and do some meaningful work.
We hit up a few locations and wound up shooting 2 extra locations after we were originally going to wrap it up. The second one here I'm saving for a special occasion but trust me when I say it's chilling.
For now enjoy this rad set with the raddest of ladies, Romi Marie, by clicking the photo below
