I don't have to tell you that taking photos with Annie Motel is 100% electricity and a lot of it stems from our similar sensibilities. I'm surprised the volume of photos we get because we talk the entire time about Old Hollywood, the LA Art Scene, or how weird our ideas are.
On this particular excursion Annie and I discussed a 60's theme which immediately made me think of Yé-Yé aka 60's French Pop . My big influence here was a song called "Dracula" by Christine Pilzer so I've included the video below. We decided the best setting for this would be some sort of Garden and we headed to Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge. This place was pretty but also totally weird (or maybe just a weird place in the middle of the summer).
We wound up cutting the location a little short when an employee told us the place would start getting busy with their summer concert series. We decided to keep shooting on our way back, finding a few cool locations and ultimately winding up at the Eagle Rock Plaza, one of the weirdest little malls in LA. This resulted in GOLD including a favorite of the set: "the meat picture".
