I haven't been talking about on here perhaps as much as I should but I shoot for Amadeus Magazine, an LA-based art magazine featuring artists of all different disciplines from all around. So far I've done five studio visits including four for Issue 06, one for issue 07, and I took live photos at the Issue 06 release party at WNDO Gallery in Venice where they printed out and hung up 20 of my photos. Amadeus is an amazing magazine that I highly recommend you pick up. With each issue that comes out I will continue to slowly put the full photoshoots from each studio visit I do, last month I showed off the radness of Sarah Sitkin and today we are featuring my first shoot with Amadeus: Mish Way.
Talk about getting off to the right foot. Amadeus' Chief Alex Khatchadourian and I only talked briefly before she invited me to come shoot her interview with White Lung's Mish Way who is also a prolific writer for Vice. We headed down the street from my Highland Park home to La Cañada. This was my first time photographing an interview. I wasn't particularly nervous but I wasn't sure how my style would translate since talking to my subjects is such a big part of what I do in my shoots but I found the experience quite liberating because Alex is a great interviewer and I was able to just do my thing, occasionally interjecting with a question of my own. I then got the opportunity to take 10-15 minutes to direct Mish. Mish Way is totally rad. Go listen to her music, read the interview in Amadeus, and get to know one of my favorite subjects: Mish Way.
